WHERE STUDENTS ARE KNOWN, NOT A NUMBER
Our school family understands how important the middle school years are for education and growth. From grades 5 to 7, students will learn to manage RIGOROUS COURSES, a multiple-period day, balance extracurricular activities, NAVIGATE NEW FRIENDSHIPS, and begin to ask big questions on their faith journey. Most importantly, they will be forming their identity as they learn more about their unique talents and begin to DISCOVER GOD’S CALLING on their lives.
OUR APPROACH
Middle school is hard—few would challenge that. At Lakewood, we know the toughest challenges are the most rewarding. We’ve developed a program to help students make the transition from elementary to high school fluidly while providing opportunities for leadership and serving others. Our teachers feel uniquely called to speak into the lives of students at this critical crossroad – they get middle schoolers in a way few do and are passionate about this age and all of its inherent quirks.

ACADEMIC ADVANCEMENT
Middle school is not simply a time to “get through,” but enjoyed. It’s a time for exploring interests and laying the groundwork for future skills. We have teachers that really love this age group and they’ve created a program that honors these years and the unique experiences and challenges they represent. By utilizing small class sizes, we get to know their students on a more personal basis and are able to mentor them in the pursuit of the dreams God has laid on their hearts.
COMMUNITY & CHARACTER
A Christ-centered approach teaches students to extend and receive grace. They understand the importance of respecting themselves and their peers because they were made in the image of God. Whether volunteering for a service project or marching in the Right to Life rally, our middle schoolers get involved with causes they are passionate about and become servant leaders. Whether it’s through leading a small group, coaching a team, or mentoring a student, we offer numerous opportunities for parents to stay involved.
ENRICHMENT & EXPERIENCES
Our academic program is enhanced by a wide variety of electives and extracurricular programs that help students explore their interests and develop new skills. A few favorites include STEM, Arts, and Music. Some field trips include the Embassy Theatre, Purdue-Fort Wayne performances, the Indy Zoo, and more. Often, students are forced to become specialists in a specific extracurricular activity. We have a no-cut policy because we believe that all students at the middle school level should be given opportunities to find out what they like and try new things.
